***Embrionix announced as finalist for IABM Game Changer Award 2016 (N5116) - 2016-04-05

Laval, Canada, April 5, 2016 — Embrionix, the leading developer of video SFP and emSFP, proudly announced their IABM nomination for their latest SDI-to-IP gateway converter. Appropriately named emSFP-GATEWAY, the module was entered and elected for the IABM Game Changer Awards 2016.

‘We are very proud of this announcement by IABM for the game changer nomination. Our feedback confirms the market place understands the ideal use case for IP. Our opinion may be bias, but direct media interfaces on a COTS switch seems the most logical for content collection. The SDI to IP emSFP gateway is the most efficient and flexible integration possible. This mean a zero additional rack space, and no need for additional power or cooling.’ said Sarkis Abrahamian, VP business development at Embrionix.

One of the key advantages of this implementation technique is the use of the same COTS (Commercial-off-the-shelf) 10 GbE switch used in todays vast telecom market. emSFP-GATEWAY allows SDI and IP native sources and destinations to connect to the same equipment to rout media everywhere inside your Network.

Up to 96 x SFP gateway functions can be processed within a 1RU COTS switch. The Embrionix gateway modules provide the versatility to adapt various audio and video IP formats by encapsulating and de-encapsulating signals such as ST-2022, AES67, AIMS TR03, ASPEN and JPEG-2000 formats. This clearly streamlines interoperability between devices from multiple vendors.

With continued participation and collaboration from standards bodies and Product Manufacturers, IP transport standards are beginning to get closer to final form.

‘The SFP form factor has been our primary focus from the beginning. The IP industry was the birthplace of the SFP form factor. We understood the evolutionary steps coming in video and focused our efforts on miniaturization. Embrionix team has developed an idea that can adapt to the changing and growing media space, while maintain SFP form and interoperability. This truly is a game changer” said Renaud Lavoie, President and CEO.”

‘Our gateways are easily configurable via In-band IP. Customers can decide which formats they want to use on a case-by-case basis. The configuration is accessible over the network and gateways are accessible via RestFul API.’ added Sarkis Abrahamian, VP business development at Embrionix.

Embrionix will be showcasing the SDI to IP SFP technology in the North Hall, Booth N5116. Embrionix will also have a presence at more than 40+ booths at NAB this year, demonstrating the diverse format adaptors available with the SFP and emSFP modules.
